Stonebwoy deserves to win this year's VGMAs Artiste of the year; here's why

Determination, Dexterity, Unique voice, Courteous, Earnest, Humble, Hard work, Ingenuity, Respect are few but words that can best describe this great gentleman.

Livingstone Etse Satekla, Stonebwoy began performing since his Primary school days through to his Senior High School days at MEDASS, gaining himself underground popularity before signing onto Samini’s record label.

His first hit single was ‘Climax’ which featured Samini, and since then Stonebwoy has been on the rise and now, he is certainly a force to reckon with when it comes to his genre of music- Afropop, reggae and dancehall.

It is an open secret that the yardstick for nominating artistes in the various categories in VGMA, through to winning of awards more or less depends on how popular your song (s) is/are in the year under review, the massive heavy rotation of your song on the various airwaves across the length and breadth of the country, the presence of the personality as a whole, and yes, the telcos vote as well.

When it comes to huge presence of song and personality, he has mounted almost all the top notch shows in the year under review; he organized his own BHIM Nation concert at AICC in December, organized his own Peace Concert in Ashaiman, performed at the 2016 VGMAs, lots of Europe tour-Go Higher tour, performed at the MAMAs, performed at the One Africa Music Fest, the whole Coke Studio project, you can go on and on.

He is one of the few best performers here in Ghana-no two ways. Be it ghetto shows, middle class concerts, whosoever, whatever, wherever, he never failed to make his presence felt, he would justify his inclusion to the fullest. He has got the knack to woe you off your seat during his performances to bust a move or two, and no wonder he has been adjudged the best performer on almost all the stages he has mounted by the patrons.

Indeed, 2016 has been a great year for him. He has released hit songs upon hits songs in the year under review; People dey, Any day, Sick inna the head ft. Burna boy, We made it featuring Mugeez, Grace, Problem, you name it.

He has also done lots of collaborations; Article Wan’s Solo rmx, Ras Kuuku’s Nwansina rmx, featured on Cynthia Morgan’s song, Banky W’s Mire do, Trigmatic’s Gbedu, Eazzy’s Nana rmx song and more.

He has been nominated in the following categories; Artist of the year, Reggae/Dancehall Artist of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year, Vodafone song of the year, Best Collaboration of the Year.

Let’s give the devil his due. Etse Livingstone Satekla, all the best yh, Go Beyond Borders. Your general performance in the year under review has gone beyond expectation, simply exuberantly exuberant. A man with a focus will never flop as your boss, Samini would always say. Keep on, keeping on!
