Shabba Ranks, Chronixx, Toots & The Maytals, Kes the Band, Raging Fyah, Rupee, Jah Works, and Ras Slick are among the acts slated to take to the stage at the inaugural DC World Reggae Festival at the RFK Stadium in North East Washington DC in the United States on August 19. The event, which is endorsed by the Jamaican Embassy, is part of the activities to observe Jamaica's 56th anniversary of Independence. The festival's executive producer Omar Stephenson noted that the event will not only cater to Jamaicans, but also everyone, including Caribbean, African and urban audiences; and that it aims to use music to promote diversity and unity throughout the diaspora. Israeli leaders plot response as Gaza violence persists

JERUSALEM, Israel (AP) — Israel's prime minister convened his Security Cabinet late yesterday to plot a response to a new burst of violence with Gaza militants, ordering the army to take unspecified “strong action” as the military reinforced units along the border ahead of a possible escalation. Fighting showed few signs of slowing. Late on Thursday, the Israeli military flattened a well-known cultural centre in a crowded Gaza City neighbourhood, claiming it was a Hamas military base, as militants fired rockets toward Israel throughout the evening. In all, Israel carried out dozens of air strikes during the day, killing at least three Palestinians, including a pregnant woman and her 1-year-old daughter, while Palestinian militants fired scores of rockets into Israel, wounding seven people. Kabaka Pyramid, one of Jamaica’s biggest reggae artistes has praised Stonebwoy for putting African music on he map. Kabaka who performed earlier before Stonebwoy at this year’s Reggae Geel festival in Europe paused in the cause of his performance the set to celebrate him. “Before I come to Ghana, West Africa, there is one connection. This my Brother [Stonebwoy], he is doing great things in Africa. He is representing reggae, dancehall and afrobeats”, Kabaka Pyramid told the audience at Reggae Geel. Stonebwoy climaxed his Europe Concerts with a last bang at Reggae Geel 2018 on Saturday, August 4, 2018 in Belgium. Joselyn Dumas 'I dated John Dumelo for two years' she reveals

A few years after rumours of her love affair with John Dumelo’s went viral, actress Joselyn Dumas has confirmed they really dated. According to her, she went out with the actor for two years but they broke up despite the fact that they were crazily in love. In an interview with Abeiku Santana on UTV’s  ‘Atuu,’ Joselyn revealed they started dating after starring in some movies together. “John and I dated for two years. We were both crazy characters and after featuring together in three movies, we decided to go out.” However in 2014, Joselyn said in an interview on Peace FM that she could not date John Dumelo, citing that both of them were in showbiz. “I don’t understand what you mean by asking if John Dumelo is my ideal man. But what I can say is that he is a very creative actor, ambitious and a gentleman. The 2018 edition of Chale Wote street art festival will be held from August 20-26,2018. The Chale Wote Street Art Festival is an alternative platform that brings art, music, dance and performance out into the streets. The community-based festival takes place in James Town – one of Accra’s most historic communities – and targets exchanges between Ghana-based and international artists creating art together. It gives artists the platform to showcase their paintings, sculptures, photographs, films, fashion, mixed media, comedy, culinary arts, music, and dance. Each year, the festival is produced by ACCRA [dot] ALT and REDD KAT Pictures in collaboration with a number of cultural organisations across the city. Chale Wote which is in its eighth year is expected to bring together people from all walks of life who appreciate artists and their art. Over the last seven years, Chale Wote has propelled the development of independent creative artists and the art
