Mighty Crown wins Sumfest World Clash Five-time world clash champion, Mighty Crown, was this morning crowned winner of Reggae Sumfest 2018 World Clash held at Pier One in Montego Bay, St James. The Japanese sound system, led by Masta Simon, Sammi T and Ninja, beat last year's champion, Tony Matterhorn, in the final. "It's been a great night and a great victory all the way through," Sammi T told The STAR Online. The competition featured an elimination phase that gave patrons the opportunity to decide which selectors should stay at the end of several rounds of 10-minute jugglings. Pink Panther and Ricky Trooper fell by the wayside, paving the way for Mighty Crown Tony Matterhorn to do battle in the final round. Nazzleman wins Festival Song Competition with Jamaica A Wi Home O'Neil Scott, better known as 'Nazzleman', has won the 2018 Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s (JCDC) Festival Song Competition. Nazzleman won with his entry, Jamaica A Wi Home. It is the second time that Nazzleman is winning the competition, having walked away as the winner in 2016 with his entry ‘No Weh Like Jamaica’. The artiste said he has been attending the event since he was a boy. "Everybody know seh me deserve dah one yah cause me work hard," Nazzleman sang as he invited fellow contestants to the stage at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on Sunday night. "Roy Rayon, I am coming, this a me second one," he said as he expressed his desire to become a multiple winner. Counterfeit US notes seized

The Hunts Bay Police are advising members of the public to be on the lookout for counterfeit US$100 notes that may be in circulation. This caution comes against the background of the seizure of 150 of the notes by a team from the Mobile Reserve on Mahoe Drive, Kingston 11 on Wednesday. One man, 32-year-old Winston Bartley, otherwise called ‘Redman’ of Tavares Garden, Kingston 11 was arrested and charged with possession of counterfeit notes. Reports are that about 11:45 a.m., Bartley was found in possession of the counterfeit notes when the vehicle he was travelling in was stopped and searched. The notes have the serial numbers LF74647441J, LL16005565E and LK41997755D. Bartley is booked to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Monday, July 30.

The entertainer and his media personality girlfriend, Krystal Tomlinson, revealed on the weekend that they are expecting their first child together. "[I'm] excited! Still excited. A few days after she showed me the ultrasound, I cried and said 'Thank you'. Thank you for this blessing, Babe.' These days when I say 'Good morning' and Krystal reply I have to remind her that is the baby I'm talking to because they need to know my voice. Honestly, it has been five months and I still don't finish reacting yet," Beenie Man said. Despite months of speculation, the couple has been tight-lipped about the pregnancy. Cops investigate fatal highway crash

Investigators assigned to the St Catherine North Police Division are probing the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision that claimed the life of a man and the injury of two others on the PJ Patterson Highway, Old Harbour, St Catherine this morning. Dead is 23-year-old Derren Baker, forklift operator of Riverside Drive, Seaforth, St Thomas. Reports from the Old Harbour Police are that about 9 a.m., Baker was driving a Mitsubishi Gallant motor car heading towards May Pen. On reaching a section of the roadway, he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the back of parked Toyota Hiace. Baker, the driver of the Hiace and one other man received injures and were taken to hospital where Baker was pronounced dead. The other man was admitted while the Hiace driver was treated and released.
